The PGRSB will host a PhD Welcome Reception on Friday 21st October 5pm-9pm at the Evolution House, 78 West Port, Edinburgh EH1 2LE.

Third Year PhD Presentation Series

Third year PhD students are expected to present their research findings to other students and staff in the School. The purpose of the presentation is to communicate the core findings and arguments of their doctoral research and to explain the original contribution of their thesis.

These presentations are made also to create a PhD community. Therefore, another PhD Student will act as a discussant (normally a second year PhD Student) and another PhD Student will chair the presentation (normally a first year PhD Student). The presentation should last no longer than 20 minutes and should include PowerPoint slides. The time allocated for debate between the discussant and the presenter is 10 minutes, after which the audience will also be invited to ask further questions.
