What to do when you arrive

Once you have completed the formal requirements of matriculation you will need to do the following:

  1. Collect your Edinburgh Law School PGR Welcome Pack
    You can collect your Edinburgh Law School Welcome Pack from the Postgraduate Research Support Office from 9:30 on Monday 9 September (or throughout the week if you are unable to attend during this time). Don’t miss out; this pack contains many useful documents, such as the PhD or LLMR Handbook.
  2. Arrange to meet your supervisors
    Your supervisors should have been allocated prior to your arrival in Edinburgh and you should email them to arrange a first meeting at the beginning of your studies. If you are unsure as to who your supervisors are, please contact us as soon as possible for guidance. If you need to contact your supervisors, you will find staff contact details on the Law School’s website.
  3. Attend welcome events
    The School’s Director of Postgraduate Research, Dr Filippo Fontanelli, welcomes all new PhD law and LLM by Research students on Monday, 9th September at 10am, venue included in the below timetable. This meeting will include important information about your studies, as well as the Postgraduate Research Training Programme. PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU ATTEND THIS EVENT!
    The Postgraduate Research Student Board (PGRSB) will provide a student-led tour of the study spaces for PhD and LLM by Research straight after the Welcome Event.University Events
    The University will be holding a series of welcome meetings and events more information about which will appear here closer to the start of semester 1.
